How Connections Affect Voltage Drop

101_0109.jpgWire used in today's vehicles is made from materials that pass current easily. In automotive circuits, most of the conductors are copper wires, some are aluminum. When new, the resistance value of wire used is not high enough to cause a voltage drop large enough to affect the operation of any load in the vehicle.

Connections can include the mechanical connections between mating terminals or where fuses, circuit breakers, relays, or bussed electrical connectors plug into fuse boxes. They also include: soldered splices where parallel circuit branches split, points of contact where conducting wires physically attach to a component, terminal, or eyelet, and point of contact where an eyelet attaches

There is a dark cloud that seems to hang over the automotive repair industry.  It is unfortunate that there is still a large part of the general public that thinks every repair shop is out to get them and that their expertise is over rated.  Even in the industry itself, the stigma is played upon.  Competitors accuse others of wrong doing to make themselves look good, and in the end are simply hurting themselves.  There are automotive self help web sites that bash the professional technician.

Let's spread a little subjective light on the subject.  Run a search on the internet though any search engine for home dental work.  It is not very likely the results you yield will give you step by step instructions for filling a cavity or performing a root canal in your kitchen.  You will not find dental tools at the local "Dental Zone".  These things don't exist because you would only have a trained professional work on your teeth.  The tools available to them are not for general public use.  The same is true for automotive repair, but the general public seems to think otherwise.

tesLOAD by TESlite

tesLOAD by TESlite with recessed tipTesLOAD with TESlite® Voltmeter Leads allow you use your voltmeter as a CIRCUIT LOAD TESTER, replacing the load in an electrical circuit so a load test (voltage drop test) can be made with the component removed.

TesLOAD with TESlite® Voltmeter Leads identify and locate corrosion in wiring when connected to any digital voltmeter (with banana plugs). By using a dynamic voltage drop test rather than a static voltage reading, this tool eliminates the error in digital meters and increases the effectiveness of the voltmeter.

Better than a lightbulb-style tester because it uses a calibrated meter, TESlite®
Voltmeter Leads will cut troubleshooting times.
